It is time to stop drifting & Flow Forward
We have moved from working in Offices to connecting Home to Home to reconnecting Human to Human. Instead of reacting to changes, we want to be part of shaping the ways we and other humans work.
In this new terrain, group configurations, meeting locations and time may be flexible, but demands aren’t.
How can you, as a visual practitioner navigate and support your clients best?
How will you open the minds of your colleagues, family members and clients to see the new possibilities?
How can you reach into the feeling of not knowing and think “what if?”—and then move quickly into action.
We call this flowing forward.
when we stop drifting and start navigating, paddling, using the current to our advantage—we begin to flow foward. we (Christina & Raquel) have learnt the following 5 things and we are ready to share them with you because we believe that we can create something really special together.
We can’t do it alone and neither can you.
We, Christina and Raquel, are teaming up together because we have been separately forging ahead successfully for quite some time. Each paddling alone in our own kayaks—but now it is time to travel together. We want to support each other and support you in the process.
Between us we have taken on the following roles: Graphic Facilitator, Graphic Recorder, Strategic Illustrator, Facilitator, Tech host, Speaker, Trainer, Harvester, Designer, Designated Listener and Team Leader. We need to move from working differently to continuously shaping the meaningful ways we can convene, connect, cocreate and gain clarity.
To work sustainably and regeneratively, we do not need to work more. We need to work smarter, collaboratively and focus on “Why?”We need to develop a mindset that will help us to make the right context specific choices.
Work synchronously or asynchronously? Hybrid? Which hybrid? How hybrid? We will work with specific cases to help you to see the potential gains and limitations—and how you can adapt your skills and choose your roles accordingly. We need to nurture our inner MacGyvers and be bold!
Working in this zone means that things can go wrong—and we have successfully navigated through so many challenges and near disasters. Inhale and exhale: we will prepare you for the unexpected. We’ve got your back. Now, more than ever we need to dial up our creativity, show up and make beautiful business.
Taking care of the jobs to be done is important, but now is not the time for restraint. We need to unleash our creativity, focus on meaning, and making an impact in beautiful ways.
As we flow forward, we need to read the signs, navigate, distribute responsibility, and make sure no one is left behind—because every one of us matters.
The workshop
We have designed a four part workshop that will take place in 4 live sessions, over 4 weeks.
Each week we will focus on one part of the possible meeting process:
Before, During, After and After After.
We’ll look at the whole process in a linear way, but we’ll also look at the nonlinear process. We’ll explore each part in it’s own and change our focus accordingly:
What if THIS part is the most important to the whole process?
What if THIS is where the hybridity is most profound?
How then can you support the client best?
The Key questions throughout the workshop is:
What is needed to fulfill the clients needs and how can you help the client explore options to exceed initial expectations?
How can you, as a visual practitioner navigate and support your clients best?
(We recognize that we all work differently and clients can also be facilitators or subcontractors)
In groups, you’ll explore and test small cases. And we’ll reflect together, and look towards the next session.
Before each session you’ll receive an email outlining the preparation for the live session.
We start with During - because we want the focus to be on the group working together in realtime with real purpose.
Week 1: During
In this first live session we will dive into what can happen when we bring people together in a meaningful way at the same time and possibly in the same places.
Week 2: Before
In the second session we’ll explore everything that can happen before an actual online/onsite event, and how you can design/support “The Before” to ensure that your client gets the most out of a meeting that has started way before anyone actually meets.
Week 3: After
In session three we’ll explore all the possibilities in The After. Is this the end, or actually the beginning?
Week 4: After After
The last live session focusses on the impact of your work. And how you can bring that forward for both you and your client.
Inspiration
We are both easily inspired and excited by the work of others. And therefore we’ll bring as much of who and what inspires us to the workshop. Through articles, videos and maybe bring guests into the live sessions.
Practicalities
Before
Before each session, you’ll receive an email with preparation. Sometimes this will require you to work asynchronously between live sessions.
During
The live sessions take place on Zoom.
Tuesdays from 6 pm-9 pm CET (Please check your own timezone here: https://time.is/CET)
Live session 1: Tuesday January 6
Live session 2: Tuesday January11
Live session 3: Tuesday January 18
Live session 4: Tuesday February 1
We focus on a high level of involvement during the live sessions, therefore it is important to be present at the sessions. Sessions will be recorded when it makes sense.
Besides Zoom, we’ll also use tools like Padlet, Mentimeter, Miro, Topia, and more—and analogue tools & blended methods.
After
After each live session, you will have a task to complete that will feed into our next live session.
After After
As you paddle, navigate & flow forward, we see you making deep connections with your fellow dreamers and finding synergies that will continue after this workshop. It makes us our hearts sing to see where the magic leads you and how the learning will loop back into your work, your plans and the concrete action you will take.

Your hosts
We are curious at our core, and share the Pippi (Longstocking) mantra:
“I’ve never tried that before, so I think I should definitely be able to do it”.
We love all day breakfast, Gilmore Girls (a tv show), and share a really corny sense of humor.
And we have an extensive experience with the online, hybrid space and using digital/analogue tools. Long before we knew of this virus called Corona, we were exploring digital and blended possibilities in our visual practice.
